WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psychotherapy addresses personal difficulties giving us insight combined with accessing the emotions in a
relational context. Neuroscience, the study of the brain and nervous system has made us aware of the deep
effects of trauma, due to neglect, abuse and toxic dysfunctional families. It allows an individual, family, or
couple, to talk openly and confidentially about their concerns and feelings with a trained professional.
Almost all types of psychotherapy involve developing a therapeutic relationship, communicating and
creating a dialogue, and working to overcome problematic thoughts, feelings or behaviours. The need to
find healthy attachment , be understood, be seen and heard, loved, for freedom to love, matter are
detrimental to all human beings. This is true cross culturally and cross species as well. Isolation can be
traumatizing but not necessarily. We are all unique beings.
During sessions, the client will discover how the mind has the ability to not only overcome debilitating
issues, but can also be a tool to a gateway of positive possibilities that can lead to peace and independence
from triggers.
PSYCHOTHERAPY HELPS BY
Learning to no longer be a victim to your past means a completely different future. Contrary to human
nature we are encouraged to be perfect, independent and invulnerable. Being resourceful enough to ask for
help, psychotherapy can help you find freedom through understanding, providing a safe, confidential place
to talk things out with a trained professional , that may not be easily expressed to others in your life
including friends and family. Therapists listen differently with years of education, training and experience
with the ability to discover those places where you are stuck. They understand complex psychological
processes, trauma, and behavioural development, which can help you to increase your self -awareness.
THE PROCESS
During the first few sessions we tend to get the lay of the land: how you and I will work together; what the
problems are; how they might be addressed. From there, you and I work together towards your goals. You
come to the session and we start where you are on that particular day. Whatever is on your mind - that is
where we start. You will find that we get where we need to go by me following your lead. The starting
point for therapy as I practice it is relational.
As we get to know each other we can use many different tools from my training including:
* Coaching will probably come up here and there and I am a Certified Lifeskills Coach.
* Dream work & Trance are some of the components of my work and we will focus and learn from those
dreams through out our sessions
I am a big proponent of open and honest conversation and welcome your thoughts and feelings about the
process at anytime. Therapy can take anywhere from one session to years of work. The length isn't about
how troubled you are - it can depend on how deeply you want to work. Many of my clients check in with
me when they feel the desire or need
You are always the person who choses what needs to be explored and to what depth with me respectfully
halting the conversation if I feel it can be helpful. I will provide feedback about the process when you ask.
I am there to facilitate your process. We will work together to figure it out.
